MINUTES OF A MEETING HELD JANUARY 16, 2010
AT SAINT JAMES IN THE HILLS

ATTENDING: Vasco Coombs, Bob Sullivan, Dede Lewis, Brenda McGintis, Orlando Addison, Valerie Belben, Sherry Fleming, Stephen Henry, Ken Sims and Ellen Newton

ABSENT: Bob Anderson, Barbara MacKenzie, Steve Vinik and Jennie Lou Reid

GUESTS: Shelly Taft and Holly Walker, NECC District Representative

Vasco Coombs called the meeting to order at 10:40 a.m. The meeting was opened with the Cursillo prayer. Bob Sullivan gave the opening prayer. A quorum was established.

ITEMS APPROVED VIA EMAIL: Minutes of the meeting for November 21, 2009 were approved via email and then posted on the website.

LAY DIRECTORS REPORT: Vasco Coombs has upgraded the PowerPoint presentations for Send-Off, Clausura and services on weekends.

Jim Barnett agreed to be considered for a workshop on "Team Building Process" at the NEC Conference in October. Zoe Stout is on the Committee for the NECC.

Vasco made a change in the calendar. The Women's Cursillo Weekend will be September 9-12, 2010 and the Men's Cursillo Weekend will be October 7-10, 2010. The next planning session was also put on the calendar for January 15, 2011. The next Secretariat meeting will be March 20, 2010 . The place will be determined.

Bob Sullivan moved that the calendar be approved and Ken Sims seconded.

TREASURER'S REPORT: Valerie Belben reported that $15,251.65 is in the account. A check in the amount of $1,000 will be issued to the NECC. Estimates on the cost for the teams for the Men's and Women's Cursillo in Jamaica will be determined. Bill Hurd is updating the Quickbooks so that Valerie and he will be able to keep a printout of the accounting books together and provide a printout of the accounting.

BISHOP'S REPRESENTATIVE: Dede Lewis reported that the format for the Policy and Procedures Manual will be updated to include a description of the Servant Community and The Fourth Day.

The weekend dates for 2011 are June 16-19, July 14-17 and September 15-18. Vasco and Bob will investigate dates for 2012.

Dede discussed opportunities to add people to the Secretariat and two members have been added, Stephen Henry and Sherry Fleming.

ShellyTaft is the Mentor for the Jamaican Cursillo. Bill Poinsett is the Lay Director; Bob Sullivan is the Spiritual Director. Vasco Coombs is the Cha-Cha and Jim Barnett is in charge of Team Building and 4th Day Rollo. The women's team is still being put together. SPANISH CURSILLO The September 15-18, 2011 date is planned for the Spanish Cursillo weekend.

SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR REPORT: Bob Sullivan reported that Cori Olsen and Marsha Beam are the spiritual directors for EWC 103.

PASTORAL PLAN: Vasco Coombs would like the Pastoral Plan to be more specific to include what the objectives are for 2010. For example, the exportation of the Cursillo Movement to Jamaica and having an Ultreya in the Keys. Each year the specifics will be changed at the annual planning session for the current year. Stephen Henry, Brenda McGintis, Bob Sullivan and Vasco Coombs will look at the Pastoral Plan to include specifics for 2010.

PRE-CURSILLO REPORT: Bob Anderson is being given the task to modify the job description for Pre-Cursillo and will email it out for approval.

FOURTH DAY: Brenda McGintis is working with Jean Robinson on a fundraiser and it will be at Holy Family parish hall. The committee is looking at two dates April 30, 2010 or May 28, 2010 and the tickets will be $10.

There is an Ultreya January 23rd at St Mark's Episcopal Church in Palm Beach Gardens. She has a firm commitment for an Ultreya in the Keys.

ADDITIONAL DISCUSSION: There was discussion regarding the Cursillo Movement having a presence at the Diocesan Conventions. Sherry Fleming volunteered to assist with a booth at the next convention. Shelley Taft will work with her. The NECC Committee needs a host for their January 18-22, 2012 planning session meeting. This will be discussed at the next meeting.

NEXT MEETING: The next meeting will be March 20, 2010 at St. Marks on Oakland Park Blvd, Ft. Lauderdale, Brenda McGintis made a motion to adjourn and Ken Sims seconded. The meeting was adjourned at 1:24 PM
